Default How much use do you get out of a Rit?

I've been trying to figure out my so called "main" toon for awhile now. Ive decked out a fair few characters, such as Necro, Derv, Monk, Warrior, Assassin and I still can't really find a class I like to play. Now I know you can't tell me what I like, but I'm asking how often do you use your Rit?

I have such a great time in PvP when I roll a rit, even with the tiny builds avaliable to it I like the idea of being support but without the pressures of being a monk. With the recent updates, it seems that they have a stable place in PvP for now which I am quite happy with.

PvE on the other hand, is completely unknown to me. I very rarely see Rits in PvE, and generally they don't seem to have any place in a group. With the recent buffs I think they might have found a slight niche, but I'm pretty unsure. I don't really want to play and find that my Rit is like my Derv, not very useful compared to other characters.

So back to the question, how often do you use your Rit? Are you generally forced to use another character, or are you able to roll HM Dungeons at ease while using your Rit?

I've had little trouble rolling HM dungeons on my rit - although i've steered clear of Slavers as she is STILL a survivor - so I am risking the title each time I enter a HM dungeon
but with some alterations you can do most dungeons easily enough - new spirit boosts help alot - but basic chanelling / support builds can clear most dungeons with capable (non cookie-cutter) hero/hench teams

good luck and have fun experimenting - takes a bit of time to get into them I found - until I found a build I liked - then I started really enjoying it

I don't play Ritualist in PvP anymore, but my, I loved the days of using Spirit's Strength + melee weapon of choice.

In PvE, I use my Rit in MQSC, and that's about it. If I actually cared to play the game, he'd probably be running Spiritway now like everyone else is shifting to. He also sees play time during festivals, but mostly only the Canthan ones.

My mains are Monk and Rit, and both usually takes on a heal/prot role.
I found that Rt are excellent in areas with mass degen of any kind while Monk usually better choice when it comes to spike heals and protection.

In for example Chaos PLanes in UW, I dread to go there as monks because of the mass degen, interrupts, and anti-caster hate. Even with HB, Heal Party would still take you 2 seconds and almost guaranteed be interrupted. Now with Rt this is totally reversed. Recuperation/Rejuvenation can't be interrupted, can't be slowed, and almost completely negate party mass degen. You basically smirk your way through Chaoslands knowing the caster hate you received there as a monk.

Done everything but DoA, The Deep and UW with my Rit I use her whenever I can and if I really have to, I'll play some other class if the thing needs it.

I happen to use my rit alot. Rits are excellent party supporters and can make life alot easier for a monk. They can also do damage with spirit-spamming, now that spirits don't take as long to cast in PvE. Very fun class

I play a Rt into High-End PvE for the pure fun of it. How often do you see a Rt in places like that? Vanquishing is fun too, I can adapt a supportive build, maybe not as good as a monk, but just as fun. Going as a secondary smiter is my personal favorite for Vanquishing. The only dungeons I can recall every having serious problems with were Kathandrax and Slaver's Exile, but I don't think I had LoD back then to help.

Best of all to me are the armors, some of the best for spellcasters imo, because its not the casual super spiky stuff.

For one, as a rit you should never be forced to play another character. Their strong enough to be viable. Granted not powerful enough to be required, but definitely viable.

Rolling hard mode dungeons shouldn't be a problem for any class at this point in time. For one, since you are talking about dungeons you have the all mighty pve skills to take advantage of. If you know how to also take full advantage of your hero's you should be fine.

The thing I like about GW in it's current state is you can be any class and still be great. If anyone refuses to take you just because you're a rit, you shouldn't want to group with them anyways.

Now PERSONALLY my rit is just a pretty face to look at and doesn't get much play time. I'm not sure if that's because of the other 9 classes I have to tend to, or the fact that I'm grinding titles on my Mesmer. It's sad though because I LOVE their sense of fashion.

Their spirits will come in handy, their weapon spells can be invaluable. Just be aware that spamming spirit rift isn't going to get you very far lol.

My Rit is very important to me. His inventory holds the stuff I'll never use but can't bring myself to give away. At least his armor looks good.

Now that you can practically insta-cast spirits in pve, you are going to see rits quite a bit in pve. As long as they don't change their minds and nerf spirit-spamming, you will be very happy developing your rit.

Those posts above saying rits aren't effective have either not played them yet since the buff, or they just aren't good at it. Rits are rediculously good now... better than roj monks... as good or better than cryers... better than most eles.. as good or better than mm, though discordway still outshines them. If you really want to improve your discordway team, though, try adding spirits into their secondaries.

Well, as someone whose main is a Ritualist, I can say that Ritualist's are invaluable in PUG's because it is almost impossible to find the perfect team build. I have been in many cases in which we have a great team, but lack just one more healer. Or we have two monks, but our damage output is a bit dodgy. That is when I step in and say, no worries I can heal. Or I can bring spirits, or I have splinter weapon/ancestor's rage and can dish out more then enough additional damage. If we need an MM, I can pull out my minion bomber build (On in one case, we needed an MM and a healer, and I created a Minion Master/Healer hybrid that healed whenever I created a minion) or if we have a tank, but need huge damage output, I have my Barrage/Super Splinter that can devastate clumped foes.

I find the Ritualist to be the ultimate support character. I can just about fill any role needed for the team and do it well. This ability is invaluable for PUG's and greatly helpful to guilds.

Hopefully Ritualists will get more updates and make Spawning Power as powerful as Soul Reaping.

Spirit's Gift IS hilarious, isn't it? Have you ever tried bringing a Monk Hero (don't bother asking another Monk, they'll just laugh, leave, or ignore you) for [Dwayna's Sorrow]? It's like a half-strength Heal Party TIMES EIGHT for a third of the Energy! In my mathematical opinion, that's TWELVE TIMES better than just bringing Heal Party or LoD. And with all three... "IRBGUT!" It's Red Bars Go Up Time!

Looks like Splinter Weapon at 20 channeling before the nerf. It used to last the full duration and not end after 1...5 attacks. They changed it to 1..5 attacks for VoD in GvG.

The change in question was limiting the AoE to 3 foes instead of, as previously, unlimited.
Turai, you will be missed.

That makes more sense

I never got to use it, I finally got my ranger (first character) to Turai and they changed SW that very same day.

Rt is my so called "main" character. I have been playing with it for 2 years already and I find it the coolest profession to play in guild wars

And about your question about PvE you shouldn't worry at all, now after the last skill update HM is like a walk in the park with spirit spam. And for dungeons they usually accept splinter barrager if it's a balanced team.

Also you can farm a lot of things while being a rit
